San Diego Storm Causes Devastating Floods and Disruptions

A recent winter storm in the San Diego area caused widespread flooding due to a weather phenomenon called "training," where heavy rain moves over the same area for an extended period of time, leading to flash flooding. The storm brought record-breaking rainfall, overwhelming the city's stormwater system and causing power outages at pump stations. NBC 7's Meteorologist Sheena Parveen explained that the storm's ample moisture content and direction of motion allowed for heavy rain to be directed over the same area, exacerbating the flooding in Coronado, National City, and surrounding areas.
