Tropical Storm Idalia Poses Threat to Gulf Coast and Florida

Tropical Depression Ten has strengthened into Tropical Storm Idalia and could potentially become a hurricane by Tuesday afternoon. It is currently located near Cozumel, Mexico and is expected to bring tropical storm conditions to parts of the Yucatán Peninsula and western Cuba. Idalia is forecasted to move towards the eastern Gulf of Mexico, posing a potential threat to the west coast of Florida and the Florida Panhandle by the middle of the week. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 33 counties in preparation for the storm. Meanwhile, Hurricane Franklin has strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane and is moving towards Bermuda, potentially affecting the East Coast of the United States with life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
