Tropical Storm Threatens Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Coast

Potential Tropical Cyclone 16 is expected to become Sub-tropical storm Ophelia as it moves along the southeast coast, crossing warm waters and strengthening. It is forecasted to make landfall near Morehead City, North Carolina tomorrow morning, then move up along the eastern side of North Carolina and cross through eastern and east Central Virginia on Saturday and Saturday night. The system will bring rain, wind, and the potential for thunderstorms and tornadoes. Storm surge is a concern for coastal areas, with the possibility of 3 to 6 ft surges in some regions. The system is expected to clear out by Sunday.
