The ongoing restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral after the devastating fire.

The restoration and reconstruction of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, which caught fire in April 2019, is nearing completion. Nearly $1 billion in private donations have been pledged to rebuild the cathedral exactly as it was, with the same materials: stone, wood, and lead. The project involves around 1,000 workers and craftsmen, including lumberjacks who have cut down 2,000 French oak trees for Notre Dame's new roof and spire, and carpenters who are carefully cutting those trees into beams and supports. The cathedral is set to reopen at the end of 2024.
