Expensive Cities for Expats in 2023: New York, Asia, Chicago, and More.

New York has overtaken Hong Kong as the most expensive city in the world for expats, according to a new survey by ECA International. The survey ranked 207 cities based on a basket of day-to-day goods and services commonly purchased by assignees. Hong Kong fell in the rankings due to falls in accommodation costs, but retained its position as the most expensive location in Asia. Singapore rose eight places to become the fifth most expensive location globally, primarily driven by rapidly rising accommodation costs.
