Germany's Pay Strike Paralyzes Transportation and Economy.

Germany experienced one of the largest strikes in decades as public transport workers protested for higher wages to combat inflation rates that reached 9.3% in February. Airports and train stations were at a standstill, with almost 1,200 flights cancelled in Frankfurt alone, affecting 380,000 air passengers. The Verdi trade union and railway and transport union EVG are negotiating on behalf of around 2.5 million employees in the public sector, including in public transport and at airports. Verdi is demanding a 10.5% wage increase, while EVG is asking for a 12% raise.
