The IDF claims that the tunnel, which runs 10 meters deep and leads to a blast-proof door, demonstrates Hamas's use of patients and civilians as "human shields." Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of operating a command center from underneath the hospital, a claim supported by US intelligence. The IDF also alleges that Hamas executed a 19-year-old soldier inside the hospital after she was taken hostage during an attack. Hamas denies these allegations.
