Russia suffers significant losses in Avdiivka and Marinka in Donetsk Oblast.

The Russian military has suffered "colossal losses" near Avdiivka and Marinka in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, losing up to 400 soldiers each day. Russian prisoners of war have complained of being forced into battle by untrained and intoxicated commanders. Since mid-March, Ukraine has stabilized the front line in the area and halted further Russian advances. As of April 9, Russia had lost over 178,000 troops in Ukraine since the beginning of its full-scale invasion in February 2014.
