Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner Group, has softened his attacks on Russia's Defense Ministry (MoD) and is seeking more supplies and recruits for the war in Ukraine, according to a think tank. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said Prigozhin's change in rhetoric is likely due to fears of losing his forces in Bakhmut. Prigozhin emphasized concerns about a possible Ukrainian counteroffensive in eastern Ukraine during an interview, and the ISW said his exaggerated statements are likely an attempt to secure more supplies and reinforcements from the Russian MoD to save his forces in Bakhmut.
