Sudan's ongoing violence and fear of proxy war.

The army and a rival paramilitary force in Sudan agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire mediated by the US and Saudi Arabia, allowing foreign governments to evacuate their citizens from the country. However, gunfire could still be heard in some areas. A power struggle between the two sides has killed at least 427 people and turned residential areas into war zones. The UN Secretary-General warned that the violence risks a catastrophic conflagration that could engulf the whole region and beyond. Tens of thousands of people have fled to neighbouring countries despite instability and difficult living conditions there.
