The Lingering Effects of War and Subjugation in Eastern Ukraine

The city of Kostyantynivka in eastern Ukraine has been on the receiving end of near daily shelling from Russian forces for the past two months, with six people killed and more than 20 residential buildings destroyed. Despite the danger, some residents have chosen to stay due to financial constraints or a desire to remain close to their roots. The main civilian hospital in Kostyantynivka has been treating the wounded from nearby cities where the daily shelling is even more intense. Many doctors have left, but all of the surgeons have remained in their posts, tending to the complex wounds of those injured under the bombardment.
