Ukraine sees surge in counteroffensive and defensive measures.

Heavy battles were ongoing in Ukraine's industrial east, with Russian forces launching air and artillery strikes in the southern Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, occupied by Russian forces, had five out of six reactors in a state of cold shutdown, and four civilians were reported dead across the country due to Russian drone and missile attacks.
