Georgian Fighters: From Ukraine to Their Own War

Many Georgians who fought in the 2008 war with Russia have traveled to Ukraine to join the fight on the side of Kyiv's forces. The Georgian Legion, a unit of fighters formed in 2014, is believed to have around 800 to 1,000 personnel, consisting of ethnic Georgians and fighters of other nationalities. These Georgian fighters have a personal connection to the conflict, seeking revenge for their country's defeat in 2008. Some have paid the ultimate price, losing their lives in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
