Childcare Worker Faces Over 1,600 Charges for Child Abuse in Australia

A former childcare worker in Australia has been charged with over 1,600 counts of child abuse offenses allegedly committed against 91 children over a span of 15 years. The 45-year-old man, who has been in police custody since August 2022, worked in multiple childcare centers in Brisbane, Sydney, and an undisclosed location overseas. The charges include making child exploitation material, indecent treatment of a child, and other related offenses. Authorities have identified and informed the parents of the 87 Australian children involved, while efforts are underway to identify four children recorded in the alleged abuse material overseas. The accused will appear in court on August 21.
