Russian investigative journalist Elena Milashina and her lawyer were brutally beaten by unidentified assailants in Chechnya while attending the trial of Chechen dissidents' mother. Milashina sustained a brain injury, 14 fractures on her hands, and multiple other injuries. The attackers threatened her and demanded the password to unlock her phone, beat her fingers, shaved her head, and doused her with green antiseptic.
