"NATO Enhances Air Defense Measures Against Russian Incursions"

NATO forces are increasing simulations and training exercises to improve their ability to intercept Russian aircraft entering the alliance's airspace. Pilots from member states are conducting regular training missions, with recent exercises involving intercepting a simulated target aircraft. The increase in training comes as Russian threats to NATO airspace have grown, particularly in the South where the war in Ukraine is ongoing. Air Policing missions are carried out daily by about 30 Alliance planes, including in Baltic countries that lack their own fighter jets. A Romanian military detachment deployed in Lithuania is conducting regular exercises to stay prepared for real alerts.
