Fatal Fire Engulfs Rome Hospital, Leaving Multiple Dead and Patients Evacuated

At least four people have died and over 200 people were evacuated after a fire broke out in a hospital in the Roman suburb of Tivoli. The fire started in the lower level and quickly spread to the emergency room area. Witnesses reported that the electricity went out before the fire engulfed the wing. Two victims died from smoke inhalation, one from a heart attack, and one from burns. The fire brigade suspects faulty wiring and stored chemicals as possible causes. The hospital, which dates back to 1337, is part of Rome's health system.
