Brazilian President Lula and Argentine President Fernández are exploring ways to avoid using the US dollar in trade between their countries, as Argentina's economy suffers from a run on the peso and a shortage of dollars. Lula plans to propose a line of credit to finance Brazilian companies that export to Argentina without using the dollar. Argentina has already struck a deal with China to pay for imports with yuan. The two leaders are also likely to discuss restarting the Union of South American Nations.
