Education Crisis in Ukraine: Over 1,000 Schools Destroyed and Millions of Children Losing Out, Warns UNICEF

More than 1,300 schools in government-held areas of Ukraine have been destroyed since Russia's invasion in 2022, with many others badly damaged, according to UNICEF. Ongoing attacks have resulted in only about a third of school-age children attending classes fully in person, leading to learning loss and distress. Additionally, over half of the children who have fled the conflict to seven countries are not enrolled in national education due to language barriers and overstretched education systems. The war, combined with COVID disruptions, has left Ukrainian children facing a fourth consecutive disrupted school year, impacting their education and overall well-being.
