International Concerns Mount Over Japan's Fukushima Water Release

Hundreds of protesters in Seoul demonstrated against Japan's plan to release treated radioactive water from the Fukushima plant, coinciding with the visit of Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). South Korea's government has respected the IAEA's report stating that the release will have a negligible impact on the environment, but the public remains concerned. The IAEA's Fukushima report had no dissenting experts, according to Grossi, who will also meet with members of the opposition Democratic Party of Korea. Despite South Korea's acceptance of the plan, a ban on food and seafood products from the Fukushima region will remain in place.
