"Killer Whales Trapped in Ice: Rescue Efforts Hindered in Northern Japan"

A pod of a dozen killer whales is trapped in ice off the coast of northern Japan, with rescuers unable to reach them. Shocking drone footage shows the struggling orcas trying to break free from the ice chunks, and local authorities have stated that they have no choice but to wait for the drift ice to break and for the whales to escape. The pod includes three to four baby killer whales, and a similar incident in 2005 resulted in the deaths of most of the trapped whales. Meanwhile, in a separate event, a pod of orcas was recently spotted hunting and ripping apart a dolphin off the coast of La Jolla in San Diego, California.
