PM Modi's Jungle Safari and Conservation Efforts in Karnataka's Tiger Reserve

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka and released the latest data on tigers in India, revealing that the tiger population rose by 200 in the past four years to reach 3,167 in 2022. He also launched the 'International Big Cat Alliance' (IBCA) and released a booklet presenting the vision for tiger conservation in the next 25 years. Modi interacted with frontline field staff and self-help groups involved in conservation activities and visited Theppakadu elephant camp. India launched 'Project Tiger' on April 1, 1973, to promote tiger conservation, and now has 53 tiger reserves spanning more than 75,000 sq km.
