Quarter of a million Somalis displaced by devastating floods.

Almost a quarter of a million people have been displaced in Somalia due to floods caused by seasonal rains and the breaking of the Shabelle River's banks. The floods have affected more than 460,000 people nationwide and killed 22. The country is already facing its most severe drought in four decades, and the climate crisis is exacerbating humanitarian emergencies. The floods have destroyed homes, crops, and livestock, and temporarily closed schools and hospitals. The Somali Disaster Management Agency said the floods in Beledweyne alone have caused the displacement of more than 245,000 people.
