Russia shutters border rail crossings with Finland and Baltic states

Russia will temporarily suspend traffic through several railway checkpoints on its borders with Finland, Estonia, and Latvia starting July 1, halting movement of people, vehicles, goods, and cargo at crossings including Vyborg, Vartsilya, Lyuttya, Saint Petersburg-Finlandsky, Svetogorsk (Finnish border); Pechory-Pskov (Estonia) and Pytalovo (Latvia) as Russia’s Foreign Ministry notifies the neighboring countries. The move, announced amid broader NATO-border activity in the region, does not specify a reason for the closures.
