Sri Lankan man breaks world record for largest kidney stone removed.

A retired soldier from Sri Lanka has broken two world records for having the largest and heaviest kidney stone ever recorded. The stone weighed 1.76 pounds, about the same weight as five baseballs, and measured 5.26 inches by 4.15 inches. The stone was removed by a urological team using a procedure called open pyelolithotomy, and the patient is recovering well. Kidney stones are hard deposits made of minerals and salts that form inside the kidneys and can cause sharp pains in the side and back, below the ribs, and a burning sensation while urinating.
