Surgeon fired for enlisting hospital cleaner in amputation surgery.

A surgeon at Mainz University Hospital in Germany was fired after getting a cleaner to assist in a toe amputation when no qualified assistant was available. The incident happened in 2020 and didn't result in any complications to the patient. The hospital expressed regret and the CEO said the surgeon wrongly decided to go ahead with the routine procedure.
