Taliban's Restrictions on Women's Rights Spark International Outrage

Human rights groups have condemned the Taliban's latest restrictions on Afghan women's education and movement, including barring them from visiting national parks and stopping them from leaving for academic scholarships in the UAE. Amnesty International called the decision a violation of the right to education and freedom of movement, urging the Taliban to reverse their decision. The head of a Dubai-based conglomerate, who had sponsored university educations for about 100 women, said the Taliban refused to allow them to board the plane. The Taliban administration has also closed universities and high schools to female students. Additionally, the Band-e-Amir national park has been closed to women, with the Taliban justifying the ban by claiming women were not properly wearing hijabs.
