"Secretary Mayorkas Grants Sudanese Temporary Protected Status Extension"

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Sudan for 18 months, allowing Sudanese nationals residing in the United States to be eligible for TPS due to ongoing political instability, violence, and human rights abuses in Sudan. The extension and redesignation will provide safety and protection to approximately 1,200 current beneficiaries and an estimated 2,750 additional individuals. The announcement also includes Special Student Relief for F-1 nonimmigrant students from Sudan, allowing them to request employment authorization and reduce their course load while maintaining F-1 status. Current beneficiaries must re-register to retain TPS, and USCIS will automatically extend Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) previously issued. New applicants can submit their TPS applications online.
