Former ICC Prosecutor Warns of Genocide Against Armenians in Azerbaijan

The former chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, has warned that Azerbaijan is preparing genocide against ethnic Armenians in its Nagorno-Karabakh region. Ocampo's report highlights Azerbaijan's blockade of the only road leading from Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh, which severely impedes essential supplies to the region. The report states that there is a reasonable basis to believe that a genocide is being committed, with starvation being the invisible weapon. Ocampo calls for the U.N. Security Council to bring the matter before the International Criminal Court. Azerbaijan has dismissed the report, calling it biased and unsubstantiated. The situation has led to a humanitarian crisis, with aid shipments being blocked and patients unable to receive medical care. Ocampo urges Russia and the US, as state parties of the Genocide Convention, to prevent this genocide and not let the Armenians become collateral victims.
