The UN human rights chief and independent expert on North Korea highlighted the country's rights abuses, including forced labor and child labor, which they said were directly linked to the increasing militarization. The Security Council session, the first in six years, saw most council members criticizing the deteriorating human rights situation in North Korea. While China and Russia argued against discussing North Korean human rights at the Security Council, the US and its allies condemned the violations and abuses, stating that human rights and peace are inseparable.
