Armenia and Azerbaijan exchange cross-border fire, threatening peace talks.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have exchanged gunfire along their border, with both sides blaming each other for the incident. The fighting comes ahead of EU-hosted talks aimed at resolving their long-standing territorial dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh. The region is recognized as part of Azerbaijan but is populated mainly by Armenians. Tens of thousands of people have been killed in two wars over the region, and clashes have broken out regularly since a Russia-negotiated ceasefire deal in 2020.
