Ukraine launches counteroffensive against Russia.

The Ukrainian army has been carrying out tactical operations for weeks to wipe out Russia's military potential along the 600-mile frontline. While there is no official confirmation that the counteroffensive has begun, Ukrainian soldiers have made gains in several directions, and the campaign appears to have entered a new active phase. The main push is yet to come, with the strategic objective of severing Russia's land corridor in the south of Ukraine. Russia has extensive fortifications, including anti-tank ditches and "dragon's teeth," and has mined the entire frontline and put floating mines in the Dnipro River. Ukraine has assembled 12 newly formed brigades, consisting of about 60,000 troops, and has been trained by western allies.
