International Coalition Imposes Sanctions on Former Lebanese Central Bank Governor and Co-conspirators for Corruption

The U.S. Treasury, in coordination with the United Kingdom and Canada, has imposed sanctions on Riad Salameh, the former governor of Lebanon's central bank, and four of his associates for their involvement in an international corruption scheme. Salameh is accused of using his position to enrich himself and his associates by funneling hundreds of millions of dollars through shell companies to invest in European real estate. The sanctions aim to combat corruption and support economic reforms in Lebanon.
