Azerbaijan's Mistrust of EU and France Halts Armenia Talks

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has rejected proposed talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which were brokered by the EU and set to take place in Spain. Aliyev cited mistrust of the EU and France, accusing them of bias and creating an "anti-Azerbaijani atmosphere." He also expressed disappointment with French support for Armenia and wanted Turkey, its ally, to host the talks. The talks were intended to discuss the future of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which Azerbaijan recently regained control of, leading to accusations of "ethnic cleansing" from Armenia.
