China Urges US to Fulfill Obligations as UNESCO Welcomes America Back

China has called on the United States to fulfill its obligations and commitments to UNESCO, including paying membership dues in full and on time, as well as clearing the dues owed for many years. The U.S. recently rejoined UNESCO, with 132 member states voting in favor of its return. China emphasized the importance of promoting unity and cooperation within the organization and urged the U.S. to adhere to true multilateralism, respect sovereignty, and refrain from ideological confrontation. The U.S. will fund 22% of UNESCO's regular budget and make voluntary contributions to programs supporting education in Africa and the memory of the Holocaust.
