China's Growing Ties with Russia in the Shadow of the Ukraine War

Russian president Vladimir Putin met with Chinese defence minister Li Shangfu in Moscow, while Ukrainian forces are finding a growing number of components from China in Russian weapons used in Ukraine. Poland and Hungary have banned grain imports from Ukraine, and Bulgaria is considering a similar move. Ukrainian and Russian armed forces are fighting in Bakhmut, and 130 Ukrainian prisoners of war have been released. Ukraine has received a new international economic support package of $115bn, and the Brazilian president has called for a group of countries not involved in the war to broker peace. A Russian court is due to deliver a verdict in the case against opposition figure Vladimir Kara-Murza.
