Around 300 residents of Belgorod, Russia have been evacuated to temporary shelter centers in response to intensified strikes from Ukraine, with 1,300 requests to send children to schooling camps in other regions. The city, located less than 20 miles from the Ukrainian border, has been targeted in recent weeks, with 25 people killed in a New Year's Eve attack. This marks the largest evacuation of a major Russian city since the invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, following large-scale Russian attacks across Ukraine that resulted in at least 30 deaths.
