Germany and Italy are seeking to strengthen their cooperation on various issues, including energy security and tackling illegal migration. The leaders of the two countries, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, discussed the construction of a pipeline for gas and hydrogen transportation, as well as the need for a German-Italian gas and solidarity deal. The aim is to diversify energy supply and ensure long-term supply security, particularly in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
