Hungary's Foreign Minister Signals Continued Blockade of EU Military Aid to Ukraine

Hungary's foreign minister, Peter Szijjarto, hinted that Budapest will continue blocking EU military aid to Ukraine despite the removal of OTP Bank from Ukraine's list of sponsors of Russia's war. Szijjarto stated that Hungary requires further assurances from Ukraine before changing its approach, and has invited Ukraine's anti-corruption agency to Budapest for negotiations. Hungary has blocked the EU aid package since May, vowing not to withdraw its veto until OTP Bank was removed from the list. The Hungarian government, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has sparred with Kyiv over various issues since Russia's invasion began.
