Israeli Hostage Confronts Hamas Leader in Tunnel, Receives Silent Response

Yocheved Lifshitz, one of the first Israeli hostages freed by Hamas, claims she confronted Hamas' Gaza leader, Yahya Sinwar, in a tunnel during her captivity. Lifshitz, a human rights activist, asked Sinwar how he could do such things to people who supported peace, but he remained silent. She also described being beaten by civilians upon arrival in Gaza before being moved into an extensive tunnel system. Lifshitz and her husband were captured from their home near the Israel-Gaza border, where they had been helping sick Gazans receive medical care in Israel.
