"Mexico's President Obrador Calls for Increased Funding for Latin America, Criticizes US Aid to Ukraine"

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador criticized the US for providing significant aid to Ukraine instead of allocating more funds to Latin American countries for economic development. He called for redirecting some of the Ukraine aid to Latin America and urged the US to stop imposing sanctions on independent nations. Obrador argued that these sanctions are causing people from Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Honduras to emigrate. The comments were made during a high-level US-Mexico meeting focused on trade and economic ties, as well as the fentanyl crisis. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will lead a delegation to Mexico next week to discuss border security and migration.
