"Nigerian Ex-President Mediates Ethiopia-Somalia Tensions"

The African Union has deployed former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo to mediate the escalating tensions between Ethiopia and Somalia, which arose after Somaliland signed an agreement granting Ethiopia control over a maritime port and military base. Somalia has declared its readiness for war and rejected discussions with Ethiopia unless the agreement is reversed. The African Union considers Somaliland a province of Somalia and has urged against interference by other countries in the matter.
