"Rishi Sunak's Stance on Israel-Gaza Conflict Under Scrutiny"

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is facing calls from over 40 MPs to back a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza to protect civilians and allow access to essential supplies. During PMQs, SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn asked Sunak to join the calls for an immediate ceasefire. Sunak responded by stating that Israel has the right to defend itself and that their armed forces operate in accordance with international law. The PM's official spokesman later stated that Sunak does not believe it is the right time for a ceasefire as Israel is working to recover hostages. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer called for condemnation of terror, support for Israel's right to self-defense, and immediate humanitarian access to Gaza. Aid agencies and the UN Secretary-General have also called for a ceasefire and emergency supplies to be allowed into Gaza.
