Taiwan President Extends Aid to China Following Deadly Quake

Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen expressed condolences to China and offered assistance after an earthquake killed over 100 people. Despite tensions between the two countries, Tsai set aside political differences and offered her government's help. Taiwan's fire department has assembled a search and rescue team ready to go to China if requested, but China has not yet confirmed whether it will allow overseas rescue teams. Taiwan has previously offered aid to China after disasters, including an earthquake in Sichuan province last year.
