Iran-Taliban Border Clash Leaves Three Dead Over Water Rights

Iran and the Taliban exchanged heavy gunfire on the border of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province and the Afghan province of Nimroz, killing and wounding troops and escalating tensions between the two countries amid a dispute over water rights. Iran accused the Taliban of opening fire first, while the Taliban accused Iran of shooting first. The clash comes as Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi earlier this month warned the Taliban not to violate Iran's water rights to the Helmand River.
