Ukrainian pilots eagerly await F-16 fighter jets to combat Russian air superiority.

Ukraine has received US approval to train and eventually receive American-made F-16 fighter jets to bolster its fight against Russia. While the F-16s have newer technology and targeting capabilities, it takes about a year of training for American military pilots to fly them. The F-16s won't be available in time to help Ukraine's counteroffensive, as Russia has been able to fly aircraft like attack helicopters and bombers in the south where Ukraine is trying to retake ground.
