Deadly Rainstorms in Dominican Republic Leave 21 Dead, Thousands Displaced

Heavy rains in the Dominican Republic have caused at least 21 deaths and displaced thousands of residents. Over 13,000 people had to be relocated to safer areas as torrential rains flooded homes, caused power outages, and damaged infrastructure. The victims include nine individuals who died when the wall of a highway tunnel collapsed onto their cars. Videos on social media showed cars being swept away by rushing water and buildings with flooded ground floors. Rescue operations have saved over 2,500 people, and more than 2,600 homes have been affected by the storm.
