Fatal Flooding in Slovenia and Austria Claims 3 Lives

Three people have died and thousands of households have been affected after heavy rain caused floods and landslides in northeastern and central Slovenia, as well as southern Austria. The torrential downpour led to the highest "red alert" being issued in Slovenia, with flood alert sirens sounding off in several cities. Highways and rail lines were shut down, bridges and homes were damaged, and power cuts affected thousands of households. Rescuers faced difficulties reaching flooded areas, and evacuations were carried out in both countries. The extreme weather conditions are believed to be linked to climate change.
