Norway Braces for Further Evacuations as Rivers Swell and Dam Collapses

Authorities in southeastern Norway are preparing for more evacuations as swollen rivers and lakes continue to rise due to days of torrential rain. The flooding has caused houses to be abandoned, cars to be coated in mud, and camping sites to be swamped. The town of Hoenefossen is particularly affected, with authorities considering moving more people downstream for fear of landslides. So far, an estimated 3,600 people have been evacuated. The water levels are expected to continue rising until at least Monday, and the damage could amount to nearly $100 million.
