Slovenia's Worst-Ever Floods Cause 500 Million Euro Damage

Slovenia has experienced its worst-ever natural disaster as devastating floods caused damage estimated at half a billion euros ($550 million). The floods, caused by torrential rains, killed three people and destroyed roads, bridges, and houses. Two-thirds of the country's territory was affected, and thousands of people were forced to evacuate. The extreme weather conditions are believed to be partly fueled by climate change. The Slovenian army has joined the relief effort, and major roads remain partially closed.
